What happens when I call Lawyer Referral and Information Service?
When you call, the manager will:
- Ask you to briefly state your concern.
- Match your need with an experienced attorney.
- Give you the name and phone number of the attorney.
Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Please be advised that we do not provide referrals for pro bono (free) attorneys. If you
can not afford an attorney, you need to call the Legal Aid Society at 407-841-8310.
The LRIS receives hundreds of calls daily. You may be asked to leave your name and phone
number via a recording. We will call you back the same day.
What is the cost?
You will be required to pay the OCBA a $50 administrative before a lawyer referral can be given.
This payment can be made using a Visa, MasterCard or Discover, or you may pay in cash at the OCBA office. The
fee will allow you to consult with an attorney by phone or in person at the attorney's office for up to 30 minutes. If you decide to
continue your consultation after this initial call, the attorney will inform of the rates he/she charges for additional legal services.
What is my obligation?
Once you pay the OCBA the $50 administrative fee and receive the referral, you will:
- Call the attorney.
- Consult by phone or in person at the attorney's office for up to 30 minutes.
- Pay the attorney directly for any legal services he/she provides after the initial
30-minute consultation call.
Please be advised: There are no attorneys at the OCBA offices. You will not be able to speak or meet with an attorney at the OCBA.
