The OCBA Foundation, Inc.

The Orange County Bar Association Foundation focuses on community education. From the consequences of one's actions, to how the judicial system works, to supporting the local schools, to mentoring, the Foundation helps citizens gain a better understanding of the judicial system.

Programs include:

Mock Trials. Local high school mock trial teams, guided by teachers and attorneys, serve as lawyers and witnesses in mini-trials in the classroom and in state, regional and national competitions.

Law Student Symposium for Teachers. Eighty educators meet annually to learn methods for teaching students about the law, including how laws affect individuals and the community.

Law Week. Law Week activities, spanning several months, include Goldilocks mock trials for elementary school students; DUI mock trials for middle and high school students presided over by judges, attorneys, and police officers, with students serving as jurors; student job shadowing with judges; lawyer in-class presentations; presentations by a person convicted of DUI Manslaughter and the legal and personal consequences of the conviction; student poster and essay contests; and the Naturalization Ceremony.

Justice Teaching. The Foundation supports the Florida Supreme Court's call for two attorneys to volunteer to assist in every classroom in the area year-round.
