880 N. Orange Ave.
Orlando, FL 32801

Speaker: Margaret Atkins Thumberg, Esq., Legal and Branch Education Manager - The Fund

CLE: 1.0 general (inc. 1.0 Real Estate Certification)

As the real estate market continues to recover and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) creates new rules related to real estate closings, the landscape in which title insurance agents conduct business continues to evolve. The American Land Title Association (“ALTA”) has established Best Practices to help title agents highlight their own procedures and policies implemented to protect lenders and consumers. Lenders may require title agents comply with Best Practices in the future.  ALTA’s Best Practices 2.0 is built upon a foundation of seven pillars related to protection of privacy, compliance and consumer protection. This seminar is designed to assist closing agents with documenting their own policies and procedures and work towards Best Practices compliance.

Understanding Metadata and Your Ethical Responsibilities with Your Legal Documents WEBINAR
Technology Committee Live Webinar

Presented by LawTech Partners

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Have you ever wondered whether an opposing party in a contract negotiation could see any of your redlines reflecting internal input on your contract? Have you ever considered that you may be inadvertently sharing confidential or privileged information with an unintended audience simply by forwarding a Word document? Have you ever wondered what your ethical responsibilities are if you receive a document containing this kind of information from the other side in a negotiation?

Metadata is electronically stored information that generally is not visible from the face of a document that has been printed out, or as first seen on a computer screen. Microsoft Word is particularly vulnerable to exposing such information which often is useless but at other times, can be quite significant and perhaps even privileged. This session highlights potential pitfalls of sharing documents and emails in their electronic form as well as discussing tools and techniques for avoiding issues when sharing documents and emails. This class is eligible for one (1) General CLE Credit from the Florida Bar.

• Understanding Metadata

• How is Metadata Transmitted or Shared

• Understanding and Working with Track Changes in Word

• Removing Metadata with Built-In Removal Tools

• The Role of Adobe Acrobat and 3rd Party ‘Scrubbing’ Tools

• Understanding Metadata Mining, “Senders Responsibility” and “Duty to Notify”

Once your payment has been processed you will receive a receipt containing a link to the Webinar Registration.
