A Statement from the Orange County Bar Association on Recent Tragic Events
The Orange County Bar Association is deeply saddened by the tragic events of the past week that have added additional emotional stress to an already challenging time in our nation’s history. These events underscore the continuing struggle facing our country to ensure that all people are treated fairly and have equal justice under the law regardless of their race. Our mission calls us to “promote improvements in the law and aid in the administration of justice.” A just society simply cannot accept the mistreatment of people based on the color of their skin or any other discriminatory reason.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” While we condemn violence in all forms, the OCBA is committed to the cause and the struggle and we will continue to support the rights of individuals to gather for peaceful protest and to be heard. We must work together to aid in the administration of justice
