COVID-19 Update from Chief Judge Munyon

COVID-19 has posed many challenges to our country and, more specifically, to the judicial system. During this time, the courts have delicately balanced the need to provide access to justice against the mandate to ensure the health and wellbeing of judges, staff, and court users.

Attached is the latest Florida Supreme Court Administrative Order and our local Administrative Order which provide guidance to local courts regarding mask usage, social distancing, and other safety protocols.

Some key points to note are as follows:

  • Face masks will be required in all court facilities, including courtrooms, hearing rooms, and jury assembly rooms.
  • Proceedings are to be held virtually whenever possible.

As we continue to monitor the Delta variant and its effect on our community, we will adjust COVID protocols in all court facilities in line with Supreme Court guidance.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we work together to overcome the obstacles the COVID pandemic presents to the judicial system.

Hon. Lisa T. Munyon, Chief Judge

Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida
