NINTH CIRCUIT JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION – NOTICE OF CIRCUIT JUDGE VACANCY – ORANGE AND OSCEOLA COUNTIES

ORLANDO – Governor Rick Scott has asked the Ninth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission to provide him with highly qualified nominees for the vacancy on the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s bench created by the resignation of Judge Kim Shepard.

The Commission requests that interested candidates submit an application for consideration. Applicants must have been a member of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years and must be a registered voter. The person appointed must be a resident of the Ninth Judicial Circuit at the time that he/she assumes office.

Applications may be downloaded from The Florida Bar’s website at www.floridabar.org or the Office of the Governor at www.flgov.com. Applicants must include a recent photograph, preferably as a cover page.

Applicants must submit a complete application, including requested financial disclosures and writing sample, by September 17, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. Applicants should e-mail the complete application to Matthew Klein at Matthew.Klein@jacksonlewis.com. Any application received after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants must also e-mail a version of the application with personal information not subject to public disclosure—such as the social security number — redacted as permitted by Section 119.071 of the Florida Statutes. The two files should be named in the following last name/first name format: Klein.Matthew.Circuit.pdf and Klein.Matthew.Circuit-REDACTED.pdf.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS: To assist the Judicial Nominating Commission in its review of applications, all questions must be fully and completely answered. Applications must include current contact information, including e-mail addresses, for judges, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and references to facilitate the background investigation that will be conducted by the members of the Commission.

Members of the bench, the Bar, and the public are encouraged to contact the members of the Commission concerning applicants for judicial positions. Letters of recommendation should be e-mailed or mailed to each commissioner at any time before the interviews begin:
