“Zoom” technology will be a permanent fixture of litigation for the foreseeable future. This presentation will examine the most effective strategies utilizing zoom in litigation. These strategies will include:
- Improving your appearance (and your client’s appearance) on zoom;
- Conducting an effective virtual deposition;
- Engaging in a productive virtual mediation; and
- Conducting a virtual trial and/or evidentiary hearing.
The presentation will also examine business and health considerations arising from a virtual litigation practice.
Location: Zoom: The zoom link will be provided the morning of the presentation.

Speaker: Gena Abel-Barnes
Gena Abel-Barnes is the owner and founder of Abel Counseling, Consulting, and Mediation. Abel CCM is a private practice that supports Florida 1st and 2nd generation immigrants during challenging times in their life by providing individual and couples therapy, mediation services, and notary assistance.
Since 2018, Gena has had the pleasure and opportunity to use her virtual practice to facilitate improved communication with individuals and couples and use her conflict resolution skills to assist business owners and everyday Floridians resolve disputes on their terms.
Gena is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a Florida Supreme Court-certified County mediator, and a Notary Public. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Master’s degree in Counselor Education and her Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has been licensed in the state of Florida since 2014.
When she’s not working, Gena enjoys spending time with (read: annoying) her husband and playing tug of war with her dog Queenie. She also enjoys sewing, going on cruises, and reading.
