Committees
The Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) offers a wide range of opportunities for legal professionals to engage with their peers and stay updated in their respective areas of expertise. With 24 substantive law committees and four special program committees, the OCBA is committed to providing current and timely information, organizing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars, publishing articles in The Briefs magazine, and participating in community service projects and social networking events sponsored by the OCBA.
We encourage you to get involved with one or more of these committees to enhance your professional growth. Joining a committee is easy - simply log in to the OCBA website to update your membership record and select the committee(s) of your interest. There is no fee to participate in a committee! Our membership department shares lists of committee members with the chairs several times per year. Alternatively, you can also reach out directly to the committee you're interested in to express your interest and get involved.
Committees play a crucial role in the OCBA's activities by organizing seminars and publishing articles. Each committee is responsible for conducting two minor seminars and one major seminar per year. The OCBA provides meeting space at no charge, applies for CLE credit upon submission of complete program information, and handles seminar advertising. We also work closely with committees to secure sponsorships for their events. In addition to seminars, committees are responsible for submitting two substantive articles annually for publication consideration in The Briefs magazine, which is published nine times per year.
